Health and Safety Measures

FOR EARLY EDUCATION AND CHILDCARE SERVICES

Health and safety has always been a priority for us at Hush Little Baby. We have a two-tiered system of additional safety measures company-wide on top of our regular health and safety guidelines, for both times when there is higher risk of transmission of illness, and times when the risk is lower. We are confident that with these measures we can ensure a continued safe and enjoyable music learning environment for the children at your service.

Use of Masks During Illness Outbreaks
  • From time to time, Hush Little Baby teachers may use a mask to protect themselves and others from transmission of illness
  • Masks will generally be used in conjunction with a small head microphone to ensure that children can still sing along with their teachers
Social Distancing
  • When there is higher risk of illness transmission, Hush Little Baby teachers keep at least 1.5 metres distance from all adults in all early education and care services visited, and minimise physical contact with children.
Increased Hygiene Practices
  • Hush Little Baby teachers adhere to our stringent hygiene practices regardless of whether or not there is a heightened risk of community transmission.
  • Hush Little Baby teachers clean hands with soap and water or hand sanitiser before and after each and every class.
  • Alcohol based hand sanitiser is provided to all Hush Little Baby teachers (and kept out of reach of children) for use as needed during classes.
  • Hush Little Baby teachers use wipes on any instruments and ‘hard’ resources handled by children during classes, before and after each and every class, before being placed back in sterile bag.
  • From time to time, teachers may modify lessons so that resources are not handled by children, particularly in the case of illness outbreaks in services.
Strict Illness Policy
  • Hush Little Baby teachers always adhere to our strict illness policy.
  • Hush Little Baby teachers will not attend classes while unwell.
  • If there is an outbreak of a highly contagious illness in your service such as Covid-19, Gastro or other reportable illnesses, please advise Hush Little Baby immediately so that teachers can make an informed decision regarding classes.
Modifications to Classes
  • When there is a higher risk of illness transmission, soft resources are not handled by multiple children, bubbles are created by “wand waving” and not blowing and games are modified to eliminate hand holding/close contact. Classes are still be packed with music making, fun, connection and learning!
  • When there is no heightened risk of illness transmission, soft resources such as scarves are used on a per service basis and then machine washed afterwards.
How You Can Help
  • When there is a higher risk of illness transmission, please provide a chair for your Hush Little Baby music teacher to sit on. This will help to create a little more distance than sitting on the floor with the children.
  • When there is a higher risk of illness transmission, support your Hush Little Baby music teacher in ensuring that children are not making excessive physical contact with them. Our teachers love the children, and want to make sure they are protected even though they miss the cuddles and high fives!
  • When there is a higher risk of illness transmission, please ensure all adults keep at least 1.5 metres distance from your Hush Little Baby music teacher.
